1999 IRONHEART RESULTS:

When the doors to Chicago's famous St. Andrew's Arena opened on the evening of November 6, 1999, fight fans in the Windy City were treated to an exciting night of knock-outs, submissions, and quality fighting, the likes of which are not likely to be seen again for some time.

The show began with Ring Announcer, Mike Vale's introduction of the event's accomplished competitors. Nearly every one of these 16 fighters had earned one or more championship titles in other fighting events. The calibre of the fighters who stepped on-stage to be acknowledged by the crowd seemed promise fans an exhilirating show. This was a promise that was to be borne out to the fullest extent possible as the evening progressed.

Fighter introductions were followed by Micahel Lamonto's beautiful acappella rendering of the United States National Anthem, for which fans and fighters alike stood to solemnly embrace.

Details of the fights which followed will be released at a later date. They may be obtained sooner by picking up next month's issue of Full-Contact Fighter Magazine.

The results of the fights were as follows:

Chris Gochis def. Scott Reames by leg-scissors choke

MIDDLEWEIGHT PRELIMINARY MATCHES:

1st Ironheart Crown is a Huge Success
(As posted on the Intense Combat news site)

MMA's newest promoter came on the scene with a roar that will not soon be forgotten. Eric Moon, soon to be Dr. Moon, gave fighters, fans, and promoters an example of how to run a great show. His attention to the smallest detail was what made the show the great event that it was.

Fighters were taken care of from the beginning with packets at the door telling them everything they needed to know before the fight began. Fans were taken care of with an excellent orderly way to sell and distribute the concessions (NO LINES), and an unobstructed view of some of the best fighters in the Chicago area. Promoters saw how a well organized and well thought out event could net them higher profits without hassles.

Three titles were decided at this event. Light Weight Champion was Phil Johns. Middleweight Champion was Steve Berger. Heavyweight Champion was Daniel Veanna.

During the night there were two knockouts. Jim Thiebold knocked out Kyle Hensgen at :34 seconds into the fight. Phil Johns KO'd Chris Gochis 6 seconds into the fight.

Congratulations should go to all the fighters. It was apparent from the beginning that all the fighters entered the ring with the will and determination to win.

The next Ironheart Crown is slated for November 2000. The line starts at www.ironheartcrown.com. We recommend not missing Ironheart 2000. Eric says that it will even be better than 1999. We think he did pretty good this year. Congratulations Eric!

IRONHEART CROWN UPDATE:
(As posted on the Abu Dhabi News Page)

CHICAGO, IL- On November 6, 1999, U.S. fight fans will be treated to the debut of a new event known as the Ironheart Crown. Chicago fighter Shonie Carter will be competing for the belt in the show's middleweight division.

Carter trains out of the All-American-Academy under Master Bob Schermer, known locally for fighting Carlson Gracie Junior to a draw. This will add a touch of controversy to the evening as Gracie fighter Pedro Vianna will be looking to meet up with Carter from the opposite side of the bracket. Shonie recently left his mark on the NHB scene with his impressive performance against UFC champion Pat Miletich in what many believe to have been a very controversial match. While Vianna remains largely unproven in the full-contact arena, this promises to be a very exciting division if these two happen to meet up in the title fight. Mobilworx, makers of fine automobile sound systems, will be present at the event, scouting fighters for possible sponsorship, and UFC veteran Keith Hackney will be making a special appearance at the venue. The following fighters are currently scheduled to compete in the November 6 event:

LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION (up to 155 pounds)
Chris Gochis (Carlson Gracie Team)

MIDDLEWEIGHT DIVISION (155 - 175 pounds)
Shonie Carter (All-American-Academy)
Pedro Vianna (Carlson Gracie Team)
Todd Fox (Rodrigo Vaghi Team)

HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION (175 - 200 pounds)
Daniel Vianna (Carlson Gracie Team)
Leo Valdes (Academy of Self-Defense)
Barrett Banks (Great Lakes Grappling Club)

Other non-tournament fighters will include:
Robert Hines (Hackney's Reality Combat)
Pat Pytko (Lynxx Academy - Pedro Sauer Assn.)
Kyle Hensgen (Keller's Martial Arts)
Jeremy Morrison (Ultimate Submission Academy)
Roberto Ramirez (Goytia's Martial Arts - Renzo Gracie Assn.)

There are still a few positions open on the fight-card, particularly in the lightweight division. Tickets will go on sale in September, and may be ordered over the phone or at any of the events many ticket outlets. For more information, contact the event's promoter, Eric Moon at 773-793-6555, or visit the Ironheart Crown website at http://www.ironheartcrown.com.
